My name is Evgenia.
Over many years I have been making komboskinia, the most sacred knots from the Holy Mountain and used all over the world by monastics and lay people as a sacred tool of prayer.
The repetitive Prayer of the Heart, whether said aloud or silently,
“Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me” or “Most Holy Theotokos, save me” can be prayed in whatever language you use while using the prayer rope.
I use wool for my komboskini, and my bead crosses come from Greece.
Afrogenia is a project of many years of devotion, displaying iconography and hand made work created over the last thirty years.
